Malta goalkeeper Andrew Hogg has claimed a FIFA official visited their dressing room before a World Cup qualifier earlier this month to inform them of suspicious betting patterns. The minnows, who are in England and Scotlands group, played Lithuania in Vilnius on October 11, losing the game 2-0 to two late goals.Hogg said the Malta team were warned beforehand that an unusually large number of bets had been placed on the game - reported to be on Malta being defeated by two goals or more. Sky Sports News HQ understand the Football Association are examining the claims. The English and Scottish FAs are due to meet FIFA this week in London at a routine meeting of football lawmakers and there is an expectation they will ask world footballs governing body for an update on the situation.Hogg told The Sun on Sunday: It was strange and felt very uncomfortable as if we were being accused of cheating. Englands Jesse Lingard has an effort saved by Hogg I knew Id done absolutely nothing wrong and had no idea what they were talking about. In the event, there was nothing I could do about the goals. I made three or four good saves which show I was doing my best.I have absolutely nothing to hide. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. Malta fell behind to a 76th-minute Fiodor Cernych goal before Arvydas Novikovas converted a penalty moments after Malta defender Jonathan Caruana was sent off by referee Jesus Gil Manzano in the 82nd minute.FIFA is reported to have begun an investigation into the matter. No player or official is accused of any wrongdoing. If you sit down and think about it you can see why people would be suspicious and it is a sad situation, Hogg added. NEW YORK -- As Andy Murray prepared to serve out this most one-sided of victories against Grigor Dimitrov, the rain started to fall on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court. This has been such a blow out that the sky is crying, joked John McEnroe, on commentary for ESPN. It was probably the only moment of drama in the whole match, as officials weighed whether to close the new $150 million roof.In the end, the wind blew away the rain, just like Murray blew away Dimitrov 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in just 2 hours, 1 minute to book a US Open quarterfinal against Kei Nishikori. With victory, the world No. 2 moved to 25-1. He has reached his past seven finals, winning a third major title at Wimbledon and a second straight Olympic gold medal on the way. After getting a wake-up call in a sloppy third-round win, he now looks back in business at Flushing Meadows.I dont think he started the match really badly, Murray later told a media conference. He had a couple of breakpoints in the first game. But once I got up in the score, wasnt giving him any free points, I could sense it was getting tough for him. I just wanted to keep my foot on the gas, which I didnt really do the other day. That was the one thing that I wasnt happy with against [Paolo] Lorenzi. When I did win a first set that was tight, didnt play my best, I kind of let him back into the match after I got a break early in the second. I wanted too make sure today if I got ahead, I stayed on top of him, I didnt have any dip in concentration or my level. But as well as Murray played here this was as poor an effort as you will see from Dimitrov, whose 2014 Wimbledon quarterfinals win over the British No. 1 seemed a distant memory.I didnt feel he played unbelievable tennis, but I felt I just did a lot of mistakes, Dimitrov later said at a media conference. For sure he has a lot of confidence right now, a lot of matches behind his back. For sure he knows how to play in moments like that. Pretty experienced player. So, yeah, its all my fault what happened on the court out there.Ivan Lendl had rejected a coaching return from the Bulgarian last year, and on this evidence it was easy to see why. Dimitrovs recent progress under Dani Vallverdu, Murrays former coach, was emphatically checked here.It was hard to believe this was the man who had beaten Gilles Simon, Feliciano Lopez, Stan Wawrinka and Steve Johnson on his way to a semifinal defeat against eventual winner Marin Cilic in Cincinnati.ddddddddddddIt was even harder to believe Dimitrov won the last time these two played, on a hard court no less, in Miami earlier this year.Dimitrov never seemed to mentally recover from a simple overhead smash that he missed while defending break point at 2-1 down in the first set. Murray went on to seal the opener with a 141 mph ace -- his second fastest serve ever -- after just 30 minutes, having won 90 percent of points on his first serve. In contrast, Dimitrov made 13 unforced errors and had just two winners. It didnt get much better from there. The world No. 24 looked like he might have finally woken up when he pulled a break back to trail 3-1 in the second set, but Murray repaid the favour immediately to end any notion the crowd might be treated to a contest.Dimitrov had no idea what to do. Murray bullied him into double faults by moving well inside the baseline to pounce as the Bulgarian hit second serves. When Dimitrov hit one forehand long in the second set, he tried to kick it away, soccer style, as it came back to him from Murray but he even missed that one.McEnroe was scathing in his assessment on commentary. The seven-time Grand Slam champion said this would have been Dimitrovs biggest win ever, and, considering the stakes, that he played a horrible first set full of poor decision-making.He didnt show any heart, any willingness to dig in and try to battle, added McEnroe when it was all over.Dimitrov attempted to defend his display. The thing is I tried. Its not that I didnt try, he said. This is what I just said to my coach right now in the locker room. I feel Ive been doing really well the past five, six weeks, practicing-wise, winning a few good and close matches when I had to.Obviously today I ran out of fuel I think, physically and mentally. For sure I was a little bit overwhelmed to get out there, playing that prime-time match. Of course, its a great experience for me. Andy right now is the best player out there. He deserves all the credit today. Cheap NFL JerseysWholesale JerseysWholesale NFL JerseysJerseys From ChinaWholesale NFL JerseysCheap NFL JerseysCheap Jerseys ' ' '
