SOFIA Authentic Reuben Foster Jersey , July 6 (Xinhua) -- The first dragon boat competition in Bulgaria was held on Sunday at Pancharevo Lake near country's capital Sofia, attracting hundreds of spectators and amateur paddlers.


"Our goal is for everyone to think about their healthy lifestyle and the sport they practice, with the idea that they can use 100 percent of the power of their bodies and feel better," Magdalena Iskreva, PR of the event told Xinhua.


Organizers hoped participants to start leading a healthier lifestyle, and the race to become a tradition, she said.


The crew of each boat consists of 20 people, plus a steersman, and a drummer who sets the pace, Iskreva said.


"These boats are very attractive for such a race, and we thought that more participants will create better mood for the event," she said.


Cristo, a participant in the race, told Xinhua after the final that his feeling was great. He said the race was very dynamic, full of rivalry, adrenaline, and required serious physical training and good teamwork.


The Dragon Boat Festival is traditionally held in China, which this year occurred at the beginning of June, on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, with dragon boats racing as a key activity.




WASHINGTON， Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- A report by U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Wednesday the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) disproportionately targeted minorities， especially the African-American community.


"There are numerous indicators of implicit and institutionalized bias against minority groups，" said the report， adding that the police department failed to adequately train its officers or investigate the use of force.


In the 400-plus-page report， the DOJ said African-American drivers were "disproportionately stopped compared to their representation in the driving population，" and along with Hispanic drivers， they were also "disproportionately searched and arrested compared to white drivers."


Also， the report found that SFPD failed to adequately investigate officers' use of force， among which the majority of deadly use of force incidents by the police involved persons of color.


"These are timely conversations because police-community relations in the United States have reached a pivotal moment，" the report said. "Trust is the key to the stability of our communities， the integrity of our criminal justice system， and the safe and effective delivery of policing services."
