Report: Ravens work out three cornerbacks After the Ravens waived defensive back Robertson Daniel to sign center Hroniss Grasu http://www.ravenscheapstores.com/brandon-williams-jersey-cheap , Baltimore returned to only having five cornerbacks on the active roster. However, Anthony Averett is dealing with a hamstring injury that sidelined him in week three. With his status for this week’s upcoming matchup against the Steelers up in the air, the Ravens may have to make a roster move later in the week. Continuing with that theme, they worked out three cornerbacks on Tuesday, per Adam Caplan.Bashaud Breeland was the best cornerback available, but he signed with the Green Bay Packers Tuesday afternoon. Although the Ravens brought Breeland in for a visit during training camp, both sides were unable to agree to a contract. Breeland is a starting-caliber cornerback, and his contract will likely reflect that. Baltimore is not in the market for a starting cornerback, but rather a depth piece and a special teams contributor. Of the three players they worked out, Kalan Reed has the most NFL experience. Standing at 5-foot-11 and 192 pounds, he was ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ in the 2016 NFL Draft as the Tennessee Titans selected him with the 253rd overall pick. Over the course of his three years in Tennessee, Reed appeared in seven games recording three combined tackles and pass breakup. He was placed on injured reserve during training camp due to a foot injury and was released a week later. De’Vante Bausby has an enticing combination of size and speed for a cornerback as he stands at 6-foot-2, yet ran a 4.42 40-yard dash ‘with the wind.’ Bausby has bounced around the league in his short NFL career. He has had stints with the Chiefs, Bears, and most recently, the Eagles. Bausby has only appeared in four NFL games, and all of those contests were in 2016 with the Bears. In those matchups, he has recorded 12 combined tackles. After spending the preseason with the Eagles and initially making their practice squad, Bausby was released two weeks ago.Prince Charles-Iworah has the least experience of these cornerbacks as he has only appeared in one NFL game. His lone game was in 2016 with the San Francisco 49ers http://www.ravenscheapstores.com/patrick-onwuasor-jersey-cheap , and he recorded one tackle in that matchup. Standing at 5-foot-11 and 193 pounds, Charles-Iworah was drafted in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the 49ers. He has also had stints with the Chiefs, Redskins, and Falcons. Most recently, Charles-Iworah was on Atlanta’s practice squad, but he was released last week. Averett’s health will likely be the most significant factor in whether or not the Ravens sign any of these defensive backs. As Baltimore begins preparing for the Steelers, this will be something worth monitoring moving forward.Ravens 53-man roster prediction: Preseason edition The Baltimore Ravens are almost halfway through the preseason, and their final 53-man roster is beginning to take shape. There are plenty of developments that could change the current roster outlook, but with two games in the rearview mirror, below is my 53-man roster projection:Quarterbacks (2)Joe FlaccoLamar JacksonAnalysis: Robert Griffin III and Josh Woodrum both miss the cut. Griffin III will not make this decision easy for Baltimore as he has strung together a solid preseason thus far, but the Ravens can not afford to keep a third quarterback on the 53-man roster.Running backs (3)Alex CollinsJavorius AllenGus EdwardsAnalysis: Kenneth Dixon has struggled to stay healthy throughout his entire NFL career, which will force Baltimore to move on. He returned to practice this week, but he did not play in their second preseason game against the Rams. Dixon is on the roster bubble at this point, and he has a ton to prove. Fullback (1)Patrick Ricard*Analysis: Ricard has without a doubt earned his spot. He has an asterisk next to his name because he is also a defensive tackle and has impressed in reps there as well. Wide receivers (7)Michael CrabtreeWillie Snead John BrownChris MooreJaleel ScottJordan LasleyTim WhiteAnalysis: It was difficult to find a way to keep seven receivers, but White is set to be the team’s primary returner, which could force Baltimore’s hand. Breshad Perriman is the most notable cut, and he could still make the roster, but at this point, he has more to prove.Tight ends (3)Mark AndrewsHayden Hurst Nick BoyleAnalysis: Maxx Williams currently finds himself on the outside looking in. Vince Mayle is primarily a special teamer http://www.baltimoreravensteamauthentic.com/james-hurst-jersey , who does not provide enough value offensively to be worth considering. While Darren Waller has flashed throughout his career, he will still need time to adjust to the NFL game again, and he will likely land on the practice squad.Offensive line (8)Ronnie StanleyAlex LewisMatt SkuraMarshal YandaOrlando Brown Jr.James HurstJermaine EluemunorNico SiragusaAnalysis: Bradley Bozeman is the most notable cut, but he will be stashed on Baltimore’s roster one way or another. He had an impressive game against the Rams, and he could still make the roster, however, at this point, he is on the wrong side of the roster bubble.Defensive line (6)Brandon WilliamsBrent UrbanWillie HenryMichael PierceChris WormleyZach SielerAnalysis: Bronson Kaufusi had a good showing in the Hall of Fame Game, but struggled against the Rams. He has been a disappointment for the Ravens, and although it is tough to release an early-round pick in his third year, Baltimore will have to cut the chord on him. Carl Davis could be traded, but he does not have a spot on Baltimore’s stout defensive line considering the emergence of Ricard.Linebackers (9)C.J. MosleyPatrick OnwuasorKenny YoungKamalei CorreaTim WilliamsTerrell SuggsTyus BowserMatthew JudonZa’Darius SmithAnalysis: Albert McClellan was once considered the leader of Baltimore’s special teams unit, but he has struggled defensively. The Ravens have plenty of other players who can take his role on special teams. Kamalei Correa is the last linebacker to make the team, and it is mainly because he provides more value defensively than McClellan.Cornerbacks (6)Jimmy SmithMarlon HumphreyBrandon CarrTavon YoungMaurice CanadyAnthony AverettAnalysis: Jaylen Hill is expected to start the regular season on the PUP list, which made Baltimore’s decision at cornerback rather easy. The Ravens have great depth in the secondary for the second consecutive season, which will not allow a UDFA defensive back to make the roster.Safeties (5)Eric WeddleTony JeffersonChuck ClarkDeShon ElliottAnthony Levine Sr. Analysis: Kai Nacua and Bennett Jackson have both flashed during training camp and the preseason, but Baltimore is too deep in the secondary to add another player. Special teams (3)Justin TuckerMorgan CoxSam KochAnalysis: Kaare Vedvik has been impressive, but the Ravens can’t keep two kickers on the roster.
