Epic Games ended up maintaining Playground offline yesterday and as of this morning it's still not up and running. In a post on reddit, the developer assures us that the mode remains planned for launch at some stage later in the day.
We found the Playground LTM. So many of you rushed into produce and play that our matchmaking service dropped over. We've since separated the Playground matchmaker by the one which impacts the default styles and made large improvements to help with the amount of gamers. We intend to push those changes and improvements live today now to bring the Playground LTM straight online.
Epic Games has released its first official tease of Fortnite Season 5 and verified a couple of things we already understood. In a tweet on Monday morning, the company said that the newest Fortnite season was only three days off. While the July 12 release date has been previously declared, it's nice to have it supported since Epic may sometimes be a bit late on their release -- looking at you Playground Mode.
While the official release date is nice, it's only one tease in the conversation, which seems to feature a mask appearing from among those rifts that keep popping in-game up. While fan speculation around the mask is currently heating up online, it seems probably that this is a reference to the Japanese kitsune, or fox. According to Western yokai folklore, the kitsune may shapeshift -- largely into human form -- and possesses various supernatural attributes.
