WARSAW, July 8 (Xinhua) -- NATO leaders on Friday agreed to recognize cyberspace as a new operational domain, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference at Warsaw Summit.
""Today we recognized cyber as a new operational domain, in addition to land, air and sea,"" said Stoltenberg.
""This means better protecting our networks and our missions and operations, with more focus on cyber training and planning,"" he said.

KHARTOUM, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Minerals Ministry and Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) on Sunday signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in earthquake monitoring and geophysical exploration of minerals and oil.
"The MoU, signed today, stipulates exchange of information between Sudan and Egypt at the regional and international level," Mohamed Abu Fatma, Director General of Geological Research Authority of Sudan (GRAS), said in a statement.
Describing the memorandum as "important," he noted that the deal designed a geo-technical map of strategic importance and could monitor the movement of the Nile River's water, particularly during the flood season.
The memorandum also stipulates cadre training, monitoring of the dams, reservoirs and mines and road construction.

Tripoli, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed and two others injured in clashes between armed groups and residents on Sunday in Rqe'at town, 40 km southeast of Libyan capital Tripoli, a security source revealed.
"The clashes broke out at dawn today in the Rqe'at town between young residents and armed groups from the nearby city of Trahona," a source from the interior ministry told Xinhua.
The clashes started after the militants killed Saturday a resident of Rqe'at, sparking anger in the area. Residents attacked a number of militants stationed at the administrative order of the area and the militants retaliated by launching a large-scale armed attack with tanks and artillery, the source said.
