BATON ROUGE - The LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide played to a scoreless draw in their fifth-straight extra-time match on Sunday afternoon as the hosts were unable to convert from their seven shots on goal while goalkeeper Caroline Brockmeier made four saves for the clean sheet at the LSU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers (7-10-1, 2-7-1 SEC) moved to 6-3-3 in 12 matches played between the two sides in the Brian Lee era, while Alabama (8-7-2, 3-5-2) extended its unbeaten run in the series to three matches.Sophomore Alex Thomas nearly unlocked the Crimson Tide defense just nine minutes into the match as she forced a sprawling save from goalkeeper Kat Stratton with a chipped effort from eight yards in front of goal. Junior Jorian Baucom found Thomas in space behind Alabamas back line with a flicked header at the edge of the penalty area from Debbie Hahns free kick.Senior Summer Clarke was put through on goal just three minutes later as she split the two Alabama center backs and found herself one-on-one with Stratton. Clarkes side-footed effort was denied by Stratton diving to her left as she raced off her line to cut off the angle and keep the game scoreless as the clock ticked into the 12th minute.Baucom was herself played through on the break on 22 minutes when Megan Lees flicked header split the Tide defense, but LSUs All-SEC striker fired directly into the path of Stratton again coming out for a save.Brockmeier was put under little pressure in the opening frame, but stood tall when called upon to make a leaping save from substitute Logue Shamburgers dipping effort from range for a corner kick in the 24th minute of action. Brockmeier pulled off a nearly identical save on the hour when Emma Welch tried her luck from the top of the box, but was denied by a strong right hand from the redshirt sophomore.Junior defender Debbie Hahn was given LSUs first opportunity of the second half in the 55th minute when she whistled a 20-yard free kick just outside the left post. Baucom nearly won it for the home team in the final 10 minutes with a nifty back heel toward goal from Clarkes pull back in the right side of the area, but her strike was blocked by a Crimson Tide defender inside the six-yard box.The Tigers looked like the only team to carve out a winner in extra time as Lee saw her shot from the edge of the six cleared off the line by a well-positioned Crimson Tide defender in the 95th minute, while Hahn let fly another free kick that sailed just over the bar from 20 yards following an Alabama hand ball in the 98th minute.Baucom ended the match with a team-leading four shots on the afternoon, while Clarke and Thomas fashioned three attempts apiece to lead the line. Each of Thomas shots found the target on the day.Seven of LSUs 16 shot attempts were on goal as the Tigers led the 13 shots and four shots on goal posted by the Crimson Tide in 110 minutes played on Sunday afternoon. Alabama led the way with nine corner kicks in the match to six corner kicks earned by the hosts. The Tigers will wrap up the 2016 regular season with their home finale on Thursday night as they play host to 14th-ranked Arkansas in a match that is set to kick off at 7 p.m. CT on the SEC Network+. The Razorbacks own a 14-4 overall record and 7-3 mark in SEC play as they will arrive in Baton Rouge on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. Cheap Bengals Jerseys . LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Wisconsin achieved two of its priorities against No. 4 North Carolina at the Maui Invitational, keeping the Tar Heels from getting out in transition and controlling the glass.Yet once the Maui title game started, the 16th-ranked Badgers immediately found themselves in a hole and couldnt dig out of it. By the time it was over, North Carolina had a comfortable, 71-56 victory for its fourth Maui Invitational title. The Tar Heels may not be the No. 1 team just yet, but they can make an argument for being the best team in the country so far.You take away the two major things they do and the team still finds a way to beat you, obviously its a sign of a very good team, Wisconsin coach Greg Gard said. The Tar Heels (7-0) rolled into Maui with four nonconference victories by an average of 24.5 points and left with four more lopsided wins at one of the deepest early season tournaments.North Carolina started slow against host Chaminade before rolling to a 104-61 victory in the Maui opener. The Tar Heels followed that up by trouncing Oklahoma State on the glass and the scoreboard, grabbing 19 offensive rebounds in a 107-75 victory. The Wisconsin game was supposed to be another in a long line of epic title games inside the Lahaina Civic Center, yet North Carolina held the Badgers without a field goal for the opening 7+ minutes and was never really challenged .North Carolina is big and athletic, causing a matchup nightmare for teams inside. Point guard Joel Berry II, the Maui Invitational MVP, provides the Tar Heels with leadership, scoring and an ability to get teammates the ball in places they can score. They have a chance to be the best defensive team under coach Roy Williams, with so many long, mobile players who can contest shots inside and out.And North Carolina has been doing it without guard Theo Pinson, who was expected to be a big contributor this season, and forward Luke Maye.Well, my opinion, Carolina is the best team in the country and we got throttled pretty good by them, Oklahoma State coach Brad Underwood said.---BIG EAST RISINGWhile the ACC has four teams in the top 10, the Big East is not far behind in the race for best conference in the coountry.dddddddddddd.The conference has three ranked teams, topped by No. 2 Villanova, and that could change soon as its teams rack up one quality win after another. Its list of conquests includes No. 8 Arizona, No. 13 Oregon, No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 17 Purdue, North Carolina State, Clemson, Ole Miss and Memphis.Expect Butler to move into the poll this week after knocking off Arizona to earn the Las Vegas Invitational title.---HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEKIts a rare occurrence when a 5-foot-9 player can dunk, even rarer still when he does it over a 6-8 player.Thats what Campbells Chris Clemons did last week when he launched over Samfords Alex Thompson in what surely be will be a candidate for dunk of the year .---OREGON WOESA popular refrain early in the season has been, Whats wrong with Oregon? The Ducks are loaded with talent and are expected to be national-title contenders, yet they have failed to live up to expectations so far.Oregon lost by 17 to unranked Baylor and fell to No. 13 in last weeks AP Top 25 . Then the Ducks opened the Maui Invitational with another loss to an unranked team, Georgetown, which is sure to knock them down a few more spots. But dont worry Duck fans. Dana Altmans teams always seem to start slow and Oregon (4-2) is still trying to integrate star Dillon Brooks, who missed the first four games of the season following offseason foot surgery. The Ducks won their final two games in Maui, and it wont be long until theyre flying high again.---FRESHMAN SPOTLIGHTMalik Monk, Kentucky. Its hard to pick just one player from John Caliparis talented freshman class -- that could be said just about every year -- but Monk has been stellar. The 6-3 guard is one of the nations best dunkers -- he had two spectacular ones in succession against Tennessee Martin -- but has more to his game than soaring through the air. Monk is Kentuckys leading scorer at 18.7 points per game and is shooting 49 percent, including 40 percent from 3-point range.---More AP college basketball at http://collegebasketball.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-Top25Cheap NFL JerseysWholesale JerseysWholesale NFL JerseysJerseys From ChinaWholesale NFL JerseysCheap NFL JerseysCheap Jerseys ' ' '
